U-17 CAB junior cricket tournament champions honoured by Mainland Sambaran

Kolkata, Aug 2 (IBNS): In a bid to encourage young cricket stars, the 2013 U-17 CAB junior cricket tournament champions were honored with cricket bats in Kolkata on Friday.

Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy (MSCA) felicitated the cricketers in the presence of ex-footballer Pradip Kumar Banerjee, Bengali actor Abir Chatterjee and Indian cricketers Manoj Tiwary and Laxmi Ratan Shukla as special guests.

Anjan Chatterjee and Sambaran Banerjee, who were also present during the event, are the brainchild of the academy.

"Through this Academy I have seen that the youngsters have a rare enthusiasm for the game and are eager to train," said Founder Managing Director, Speciality Restaurants Limited, Anjan Chatterjee.

Manoj Tiwari congratulated the team and motivated them to concentrate more on test and four-day cricket than the T20 format or the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

Tiwari is heading to England in next two days for the treatment of knee injury he sustained during a football drill.

He said, it may take 4-5 months to complete the treatment.

"The current Indian team is performing well and it is a tough task to make place in such a balanced team in form. But I know myself and confident to make a place through my performance in future," said Tiwari in reply to a question.

Abir Chatterjee said, "I belong to a different industry but I can say that we film actors need good platforms and supporters like directors and producers to make a good movie through our acting talents. Similarly these young cricketers also need good platforms to showcase their talents."
