Somnath Chatterjee reappointed as West Bengal Table Tennis Association Chief

Kolkata, June 10 (IBNS): Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has been reappointed as the president of the West Bengal Table Tennis Association (WBTTA) for another four-year term.

WBTTA's retiring joint secretary Dipak Sinha in a statement on Monday said that in the association's Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was was held on Sunday, Chatterjee was nominated unanimously for another 4-year term.

Incidentally, Chatterjee was absent at the AGM and association's vice-president Ratin Bose presided over the meeting.

Chatterjee also has been requested to form the executive council in consultation with the senior members of the association as well as the districts within seven days.

AFC Cup: Pune down group-leaders Kitchee SC 2-0

Pune, Apr 22 (IBNS): Pune FC sealed a historic first-ever win on the continental stage defeating Hong Kong champions Kitchee SC 2-0 in a AFC Cup Group-H final round encounter at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune on Tuesday.

Defender Zohmingliana Ralte's second half brace (74th & 80th minute) handed Pune FC a well-deserved win over the Group-H winners.

The win, no doubt historic, had Pune FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh save a penalty and the rebound moments after the hosts took the lead.
