Milkha Singh dreams of Olympic medal

Kolkata, Apr 27 (IBNS): Legendary runner Milkha Singh Saturday said it was his lifetime dream to see an athlete win a medal for India in the Olympics.

"What I could not achieve for the country (win a medal in Olympics), one of us should win at least for me as it is my lifetime dream, " Milkha Singh, also know as 'Flying Sikh' told a gathering while accepting the Lifetime Award, conferred on him by Bluyechip CSJC Annual award function at Town Hall here.

Milkha had clocked 45.60 sec in the 1960 Summer Olympics 400m race to (photo) finish fourth beaten by Malcolm Spence of South Africa for bronze.

He said, "Will power and hard work can make one everything achievable. I believe in that and what I achieved only for hard work and will power."

Milkha Singh, 77 said he hardly go anywhere to attend a function due poor eye sight and age, but he could not refuse the CSJC's invitation since the sportscribes give award to real achievers.
