Kolkata to host National Wrestling


Kolkata, June 19/2013 : (IBNS) Kolkata for the first time in post independence era will host the 58th National Wrestling championship at Netaji Indoor Stadium between November 14 and 17.

Olympic medalists Sushil Kumar and Yogeswar among others 1000 wrestlers will be seen in action, Wrestling Federation of India's vice-president Asit Saha said on Tuesday.

He said about 650 males and 350 females will vie for the honours in 21 categories.

Freestyle for mens in 7 categories, Greeco-Roman in 7 categories and freestyle for women, also in seven categories will be on the cards for 4-day events.

The city first held the national competition in 1938 at Tala Park.
