'Resignations won't fetch Telangana'

Hyderabad, Aug 1(Hyderabad Deccan News): Dubbing the resignations by the Telangana legislators and MPs as childish, the Handlooms and Textiles Minister, Dr P. Shankar Rao, has said the resignations would not bring about separate Telangana State and moreover it amounts to defiance of own government and party.
Speaking to the media at CLP office here on Monday, Dr Shankar Rao ridiculed the statement of the TRS Chief, Mr K Chandrasekhara Rao, saying that it was better to take poison in case separate Telangana State was not conceded by the Centre. Stating that Mr KCR's statement would provoke the Telangana youth to commit suicides, he said it was not proper to the Telangana elected representatives to sit in their houses by submitting resignations. He said the leaders should mount pressure on the Union government and party high command instead of sitting in the house by tendering resignations. The resignations would demoralize the youth resulting in suicides, he added.
The minister said the Centre would convey a good message to the Telangana people on any day till third week of October. He also said that he was ready for any sacrifice if the Centre failed to announce separate Telangana State and would lead movement himself. Taking serious exception to the Union Textiles Ministry for not inviting him to the Road Show on "Restructured Technology Upliftment Fund' organized in Hyderabad on July 28, Dr Shankar Rao has warned the Union Ministry that the people would teach a fitting lesson to the people concerned if they repeated such a mistake in future. He also said that he would write a letter to the AICC Chief, Ms Sonia Gandhi, on the issue. He said the Union Ministry had invited the local officials of his ministry but not invited him. He said that it was not the first time and the same was done thrice in the past.
He alleged that the Union Textiles Minister, Ms Panabaka Laxmi, did nothing for the State and never allocated funds to the State. He said that he brought Rs 397 crores of Central funds for the sake of weavers in the State.

Eka Veera postponed to March 2

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (INN): The discipline of old times is gone, so it appears. When a commitment is given people used to stick to that. Arm twisting by biggies is not a new phenomenon but still there was respect for values.

Now everything is done in a huff, from launch to pack-up, audio to result. What is more surprising is films are getting delayed, postponed and badly bruised.

Of late there have been many films that deferred the date of release due to what has come to be known as post production work. Announcing the date first and working at breakneck speed has become a fad which will have its ill-effects.

Dabbawallas will take a day off on August 16

Mumbai, August 5: Extending support to social activist Anna Hazare over the Lokpal Bill issue, Mumbai's famous dabbawallas (lunch-box carriers) on Friday said there would be no service on August 16, the day he proposed to start his hunger strike.
About 4,500-5,000 dabbawallas transport some 2,00,000 homemade lunch packs every day at a very low fee and with surprising punctuality. But not on August 16.
"We support Anna Hazare in his fight for the strong Lokpal Bill. On August 16, when Annaji would go on a fast, we have decided to show our support by asking our customers not to give tiffins for delivery,' said President o .... Read More
