Ready to support any Muslim for chief minister's post: Raja Bundela
By Faisal Fareed, TwoCircles.net,
Lucknow: Clearing the air, Bundelkhand Congress Chief Raja Bundela announced on Monday that his outfit is part of multi-party Ittehad Front abd said that he is ready to support any Muslim for the chief minister's post."We are clear in our goal. We will support any Muslim for the chief ministership of the state," he said.
Recently formed Ittehad Front, headed by Nadwa cleric Maulana Salman Nadwi includes Peace Party, Apna Dal, Qaumi Ekta Dal and several other small outfits. It was announced that Bundelkhand Congress was also part the front but Bundela's absence from the function gave rise to speculation. "I am very much in touch with Ittehad Front leaders mainly Dr Ayub and Anupriya Patel. I was busy in a meeting so could not attend the function. We will soon hold joint rallies," said Bundela.
Over the seat sharing, Bundela announced that Bundelkhand Congress will contest on 41 seats. "There are only 15 seats from Bundelkhand region as we have left the remaining six for our allies. We will also contest outside Bundelkhand as in Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra, Kaushambhi etc" he said adding that the list of candidates will be declared on January 07. He remained hopeful that it will benefit him with Muslim votes and Apna Dal's kurmi voters.
Bundela remained highly critical of Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi stating that he knows everything still has turned a Nelson's eye towards the sufferings of people in Bundelkhand. "When Rahul claims in his speech that Bundelkhand package is being siphoned away, what is stopping him from carving a new state for better administration" he remarked. However, Bundela also decried Chief Minister (CM) Mayawati stating that her split UP proposal is just an election gimmick.
"Every party is using Bundelkhand issue as an election gimmick. NDA government created three states and there was no need of state reorganization committee," he said. www.twocircles.net
