Hyderabad Metro invites designs from practising architects

Hyderabad, August 7: The Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMR) has invited designs from practising architects for its Rs 7 crore commercial complex to be built in Putlibowli for rehabilitating traders and hawkers likely to be affected by road widening on the Badi Chowdi-Sultan Bazaar stretch.
Metro rail managing director N V S Reddy said the intention of the design competition was to encourage design innovation by reflecting the characters and features of the nearby Sultan Bazaar area and provide special facilities for hawkers in the new complex.
The top three designs chosen by HMR for the commercial complex would be awarded prize money of Rs two lakh, Rs one lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively. The last date for submission of designs is September 15. The selection would be done by a five-member selection committee consisting of reputed architects and GMs of works and land management departments of HMR. Details inviting designs have been put up on the HMR website: www.hyderabadmetrorail.in
The complex, to be built on a plot of 2150 square yards, will have two levels of cellars and five floors with a total built up area of about 77,000 square feet. It would have ample parking area in its cellars as lack of parking facility is a major problem for traders and customers in this area.
The complex would be designed as a green building with natural ventilation and other eco-friendly features. The building would be about 50 metres from metro rail corridor-I (Miyapur-LB Nagar) and 300 metres from Sultan Bazaar-Koti on corridor-II (JBS-Falaknuma). It would be connected with both the corridors through sky-walks at levels III and IV, providing easy access to metro rail commuters, N V S Reddy said. The HMR MD has also invited suggestions from general public and local traders regarding facilities they need, so as to make the complex a unique place to fulfill the shopping needs of the common man. For this, they can contact B N Rajeshwar, GM (Works) of HMR on mobile number 8008456866 or through e-mail gmwhmr@gmail.com.

Of late there have been many films that deferred the date of release due to what has come to be known as post production work. Announcing the date first and working at breakneck speed has become a fad which will have its ill-effects.
