Woman kills "raped daughter", attempts suicide in Amritsar, Punjab
Amritsar, July 10 (IBNS) A mother stabbed her adopted seven-year-old daughter to death who was allegedly raped by her husband and then tried to commit suicide in Amritsar in Punjab, police said on Tuesday.
Reports said the woman, 40, had filed a police complaint against her husband earlier when she caught her husband sexually assaulting the girl whom they had adopted because they were childless.
The murdered girl was her husband's elder brother's daughter.
The woman, Sakshi, cut her veins to end her life but was taken to hospital and she survived.
Her FIR against her husband Ramesh Kumar three days ago led to his arrest but her in-laws started abusing her since then.
