USIEF organizes educational programme for students

Kolkata, July 6 (IBNS): The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), Kolkata, held a special information seminar on Friday, for students seeking admission in various educational programmes in United State.

USIEF was established under a bilateral agreement on educational exchange signed between India and the United States in the year 1950.

The seminar was organized for providing information to the students about staying and studying abroad. It addressed a wide range of relevant issues ranging from accommodation to foreign exchange, from course selection to campus jobs.

American Consul General, Dean R. Thompson, who was present at the seminar said: "The number of students migrating from India to United States has increased over the decades."

"More and more students are becoming aware about the opportunities of higher studies in United States. This educational exchange is providing a strong base for the relationship between the two countries."

Talking about the job opportunities, he said; "Our economy, that has been flat for a few years, has started growing again. I think that there is going to be lots of job opportunities for students, over there and here also."

Indian students who are currently enrolled in U.S. Universities held an interactive session with the students, who are seeking admission in the U.S. about academic, social and cultural life in the country.
