Sukirti Kandpal inspired by Kareena Kapoor
Mumbai, July 6 (IBNS) Who can forget Kareena Kapoor as the spoilt, spunky and sassy 'Pooh' in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham?
Zee TV's cross-continental love story Rab Se Sona Isshq is bringing that 'Pooh' back to the small screen as actress Sukirti Kandpal is introduced in the show as the feisty and fashionable, London-based 'Jazz'.
Quiet, reserved and sweet Sukirti was so keen to get into the skin of her character that she didn't waste a single moment to rush out to her nearest video store and get her hands on a copy of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham where she intently spent days watching every expression and comeback that a spunky Kareena throws back at the people around her all through the film.
She even insisted on asking her stylist to source her costumes in the show from London so as to clearly capture the British high street fashion that would be worn by an extremely fashionable youngster born and bred in the UK.
"I have seen Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham some half a dozen times when it was released. I have always loved the spunk and vivacity of Kareena Kapoor's character in the film and I think she managed to pull it off with aplomb," said Sukirti about her preparation for the role of Jazz.
"So when I was briefed about my character, 'Pooh' was the first reference that came to my mind so I decided to take a page from her book and follow in her footsteps.
"Given that I am a shopaholic myself, I am definitely looking forward to sporting the latest fashion trends of London. And, being stationed in London for three months is an added bonus!" said Sukirti.
'Jazz' is a 22-year-old British-born Indian spoilt brat. Being a true Londoner at heart, she hates India and everything that is even remotely Indian since she believes that it is this "Indian"ness that caused her mother to leave her father.
