Jammu and Kashmir: Fire in Army camp kills one



Srinagar, Nov 10 (IBNS): An Army officer was killed when a fire broke out in a barrack in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district early Saturday, said officials.

Lt Colonel S Apte, who was second in command of counter-insurgency 5 Para unit of the Army, died as fire gutted four huts inside the camp, reports said.

An official said an electrical short-circuit triggered the fire at around 2 am.

Other Army personnel, who were present in the camp, were safe.

Bangalore 31 July, 2014: Normal life was hit severely in Bangalore following a bandh called by Pro Kannada Organizations in protest of crimes against women.

The organisations, however, exempted essential services, including milk supply, ambulances, trains and inter-state buses from the shutdown.
