Security tightened at Hyderabad Assembly
Hyderabad, Jan 28(THD NEWS): Security was tightened at the State Legislative Assembly in view of the expiry of the deadline set by the Telangana JAC for the Centre to announce the formation of separate Telangana state. It may be mentioned here that the Telangana JAC had issued an ultimatum to all the Telangana legislators to get their resignations accepted by the Speaker if the Centre failed to make a clear statement on the formation of Telangana state till January 28. Accordingly, the TRS members have decided to meet the Speaker, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and exert pressure on him to accept their resignation letters. They have also decided to stage a dharna at the Gandhi statue on the premises of the Assembly, if the Speaker failed to respond positively. Under the circumstances, the political weather may be heated up at the Assembly with the arrival of MLAs in large numbers. Suspecting imminent protest by the pro-Telangana agitators, additional police forces were deployed near the Assembly as a precautionary measure. Moreover, the Telangana Martyrs Pylon in the Gun Park before the Assembly remains the main spot for congregation of Telangana protagonists. To avoid a possible attempt of the agitators to gatecrash into the Assembly premises, barricades were set up all along the Assembly.
