Paritala Ravi murder accused Suri killed
Hyderabad, Jan 3 (Hyderabad Deccan News): In a daring attack which took place in broad daylight, three unidentified persons opened fire on Maddelacheruvu Suryanarayana alias Suri, the prime accused in the murder of Telugu Desam Party MLA from Penukonda, Paritala Ravindra at Navodaya Colony in Yousufguda on Monday afternoon. According to hospital sources, Suri has succumbed to his injuries, but this has not been officially confirmed.
Sources say that the Anantapur faction leader died at about 7:30 PM.
Following the attack, the seriously injured Suri was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills. He was being treated in the ICU at the Hospital.
The hospital sources, had earlier put the chances of Suria€™s survival as 'very bleak'. He had slipped into coma after the attack.
The doctors attending on Suri informed that he received two bullet injuries in the head. They had tried to save his life by putting him on the ventilator.
The police are suspecting that nearly 20 persons of a suspected gang participated in the attack.
The incident took place when Suri was returning home from Sanathnagar to Yousufguda after meeting a lawyer at his office in connection with a case.
Two more persons, Bhanukiran and Madhu are believed to have been travelling in the car with Suri at the time of the attack. After the shootout, Bhanukiran fled from the spot. Police suspect that Bhanukiran may have a hand in the attack since he fled from the spot.
Police say that three assailants wearing masks, opened fire on the Rayalaseema faction leader.
According to information coming in, at least five rounds were fired from close range and two bullets pierced through his head.
According to sources, Suri, who is on conditional bail since the past 8 months, had sought security in the wake of threat to his life. However, the police declined to provide security to him.
Following the attack, City Police Commissioner A K Khan visited the hospital and ordered the security to be beefed up there.
Director General of Police K Aravinda Rao ordered for enquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile police in Anantapur district have tightened security to ward of any violent backlash in the area following the attack. The district SP has made an appeal to the people to maintain calm and observe restraint.
