No change in hostel menu: Osmania University VC S Satyanarayana

Hyderabad, April 16 (INN): Osmania University vice-chancellor Prof S Satyanarayana on Monday announced that there would be no change in menu of students in the hostels.

The vice-chancellor assured the students that food would be served as per the old menu.

Earlier, following the bandh call given by Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in protest against the violence in the university campus after the Beef Festival on Sunday, the students took out a peace rally from Arts College to the Administrative Building. The students later staged a dharna in front of Vice-Chancellor's office and sought strong action against perpetrators of violence in the campus.

The VC assured the students that he would take serious action against those elements who resorted to violence during the beef festival on Sunday. "The perpetrators of violence will be booked in the next 24 hours and serious action would be initiated against them as per the law," he said.

The VC also assured them that he provide better medical care for the student, who received stabbing injuries in the incident. The ABVP members appealed to VC to take action against Professors P L Vishweshwar Rao and Gali Vinod Kumar for participating in the beef festival.

The VC said that he would convene a meeting with the professors of all departments and take a final decision. He also said that he would take all steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
