Jagan dares Congress to order snap poll

Kadapa, Oct 11: YSR Congress president and MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has challenged the Congress party to dissolve the Assembly and declare mid-term elections if it had guts.
Jagan participated in the dharna at the collectorate on Tuesday, as part of his party's 'current poru' (power struggle).
Speaking on the occasion, he lambasted the Congress party and said farmers were being put to untold hardships because of power cuts. He has alleged that the government has left administration to the winds. He said no one would be able to tell when and for how many hours the power would be cut. He said though the employees have given advance notices for Sakala Janula Samme, the government has totally failed to make alternative arrangements. He said the present power crisis was because of the lack of foresight on the part of the government, he said and reminded that it failed to get enough stocks of coal for the power units though Singareni workers have given a 45-day notice for going on strike. He doubted that the government might have felt that it would be good if the employees go on strike. He said farmers were coming to the conclusion that it was better to end their lives than cultivate the land. He said the farmers have lost Rs 5,200 crores because of power cuts. He also charged the government of trying to suppress democratic agitations through police force and said those staging dharnas were being arrested. Stating that the people were ready to dispose off the present government, he said Congress candidates would not get even deposits in the next elections.
Referring to the beating of his party workers and foisting of cases against him, Mr Jagan has warned that there would be a mass upsurge if the police did not desist from highhanded behaviour. He has accused the police of foisting false cases against him, simply because he has questioned the police about their atrocities.
On Tuesday, YSR Congress workers throughout the State held dharnas at collectorates, on farmers' problems.
