Govt fails to keep word on filling of SGT posts
Hyderabad, June 13: The promise made by the Secondary Education Minister, Mr D Manikya Vara Prasada Rao, that the SGT vacant posts under DSC-2008 notification will be filled before the beginning of the academic year remained unfulfilled.
It may be mentioned that the minister, on several occasions, assured that the selected candidates of the DSC -2008 will be given postings before the commencement of new academic year. Though the Cabinet sub-committee on the issue had decided to give postings to all the selected candidates, it would definitely take more than one month for recruitment of news teachers.
Out of 52,846 posts notified for recruitment under DSC-2008 on December 6, 2009, only 30,704 posts remained vacant under the category of Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts. The problem arose when the government realized that there were only 21,330 SGT vacancies. As many as 9,340 more vacancies were required to be filled as per the notification. The dilemma was partly resolved when 5,000 vacancies arose after promotions.
