Hyderabad, Dec.15(THD NEWS):-The Praja Rajyam president, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, on Tuesday garlanded the photo of Potti Sriramulu who laid down his life for separation of the Andhra region from the then Madras state, on the occasion of his 57th death anniversarya€™
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr Chiranjeevi said that there was need for every Telugu-speaking person to pay his regards to the great leader who gave up his life for the sake of uniting all of them.
Stating that Potti Sriramulu was the harbinger of linguistic states, he said that the great man did not fear to die for the cause he believed. He said that those who go on indefinite or even fast unto-death rarely die (possibly referring to the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao who fasted under medical care and gave it up after 11 days) and Potti Sriramulu was some one who had done that rare sacrifice for his people.
Asked whether his party would extend support to the ongoing a€˜Samaikya Andhraa€™ agitation, Mr Chiranjeevi said that whether it was during the time of Potti Sriramulu or now, the peoplea€™s representatives could not act against the wishes of the people. He did not say whether he would support the agitation or not.
Chiranjeevi salutes Potti Sriramulu
