CM to write to central Govt. for increasing supply of Natural Gas
Hyderabad, February 8/2012 (Hyderabad Deccan News):Chief Minister Sri N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the power utilities to take all possible steps such as running the power plants at optimum level, maintaining adequate coal stocks, procurement of additional power from outside, maintaining sufficient rolling stock of distribution transformers to provide satisfactory power supply during the ensuing rabi & summer season as unprecedented power demand is expected.
While reviewing the power supply position and various aspects of energy conservation practices, the Hon'ble Chief Minister said that, consumer satisfaction is the ultimate objective of the State Govt. in supplying reliable & adequate power to all categories of consumers and top most priority should be given for 7 hours power supply to agrl. sector without any deviation.
It was informed by officers to Hon'ble Chief Minister that the present power supply position is satisfactory. While the demand is 250 MU per day, AP Discoms are able to meet around 243 MU per day with a gap of around 7 MU per day (3%). This is compared with a gap of around 48 MU (20%) in Tamilnadu and 18 MU (10%) in Karnataka.
The Chief Minister has enquired about the progress of procurement of additional power of 1100 MW (26 MU) for the period from February to May 2012 and also getting of 231 MW from NTPC Jhajjar power station, Haryana till May 2012.

Jaipal Reddy, Hon'ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, GoI for increased supply of gas. He also specifically directed to coordinate with NTPC officials for early commercial operations of NTPC (500 MW) Unit-II of Simhadri, so that power would be available to the State during the crucial Rabi season.
Keeping in view of the future demand, the Chief Minister has emphasized the need to finalize the medium-term bidding for 2000 MW of power from June 2012 to June 2016 at the earliest and also directed the utilities of APTRANSCO and DISCOMs to facilitate open access to willing industries.
Further, Hon'ble Chief Minister directed to prepare an action plan to supply compact fluorescent lamps in exchange with incandescent lamps to every household under "Bachat Lamp Yojana" scheme duly selecting one district in each DISCOM. This scheme of "Bachat Lamp Yojana" in selected districts should be taken up on a mission mode and completed by the DISCOMs within a definite time period and a detailed report on action plan for implementation should be submitted to GoAP within 1 week.
