Andhra Pradesh will be the Mathematical gateway of the world in next decade
Hyderabad January 29/2012 (Hyderabad Deccan News) : NRI Academy, Hyderabad had organized a one day seminar on the Mathematic skill. Sri. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Minister for IT & Communications Government of Andhra Pradesh addressed the august gathering of mathematicians and students participating in this workshop.
During the inaugural address the Hon'ble Minister IT has emphasized on the Importance of Mathematics skills in today's changing world. Mathematics has played a pivotal role in the development of science and technology. Scientific discovery could not have been possible without the sound knowledge of mathematics.
Year 2012 marks the 125th birth anniversary year of Sri. Ramanujam and 100th birth anniversary of Mr.Alan Turing who invented the computer. Government of Andhra Pradesh is organizing a mega Advantage AP, a Global IT event to commemorate the same.
India has the history of producing some of the greatest mathematicians like Sri.Ramanujam, Sri.Aryabhatta, Sri.Brahmaputra and Sri.Bhaskara. By using Vedic mathematic principles, Smt. Shakuntala devi could pace up with the speed of a computer. Even in USA today there is a strong urge to place lot of emphasis on STEM - Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics. Hon'ble Minister for IT and Communications has observed that most of the Engineering students lack Mathematical skills. Colleges should encourage Students to acquire the required skills sets.
Mr. Lakshmaiah said " Global requirements is over 1.5 crores professionals with Mathematical background at all levels from schools to industry in the next decade to fill in important positions. India, being a software super power, contributes a major chunk of professionals with Mathematical background as the subject plays a foundation role in all the streams of Engineering. It is important to note that Andhra Pradesh contributes 11% of the total IT Professionals working globally.
Even in fine arts like music, there is Shruti and Tala that have a mathematical connotation to them.In these days and age, every person, corporation, or country is measured with reference to a number - the GDP of a country, the market capitalization of a company or credit score of an individual, etc are valued in Numbers.
Mr. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Minister IT has emphasised the need to augment mathematical skills among the youth to meet todays changing global Business environement and communicated the message of ensuring that Indian legacy of being Leaders in maths needs to be strengthened through generations and students from Andhra Pradesh are creative in applying math principles in making the world a better place.
Hon'ble Minister has appreciated the efforts of NRI Academy which has been taking a lead role in producing Mathematicians in the state and there by contributing a large number of students from Andhra Pradesh to IIT, NIT, BITS, AIIMS, AFMC etc. The Academy has recruited specially trained teachers to handle state syllabus subjects as well as CBSE & ICSE syllabus subjects.
