AP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission at Hyderabad

On the occasion of International Mother Tongue Day and in order to promote usage of Telugu in the Consumer Fora, the Additional Bench of the A.P.State Commission has given verdict in F.A.No.25 of 2012 in Telugu today.
The case involved the matter of repudiation of insurance claim. The LIC of India has repudiated the claim on the premise that the complainant C.Venkataramudu suppressed the fact that he was suffering from angina on stress at the time of obtaining the insurance policy. The complainant approached the District Forum stating that at the time of submitting proposal he was not suffering from any disease and he had undergone heart surgery one year after obtaining the insurance policy. The District Forum dismissed the complaint.
The complainant approached the State Commission and the State Commission allowed the appeal holding that at the time of submitting the proposal he was not suffering from any disease and angina on stress detected subsequent to filing of the proposal form is a symptom and not a disease. I have drafted the judgement on behalf of the bench.
Earlier while working as member of the District Forum Karimnagar, I have drafted judgement in Telugu and pronounced on 21.8.2006 which was covered by the media. The news item is enclosed herewith.
