Kolkata, Mar 15 (IBNS) Popular singer Sunidhi Chauhan will come out with her maiden Bengali album from Asha Audio.
This Rabindra Sangeet album, titled "Tagore & We - 2" has been arranged by talented duo Sourendro and Soumyajit.
This is a conceptual album where the music of Rabindranath Tagore has been interpreted globally.
The album consists of 9 songs including couple of Bandish.
Sunidhi has sung four solo numbers, whereas Soumyajit has sung three solo numbers and there are two duets by them.
The songs include, Ektuku Chhoya Laage, Sei Bhalo Sei Bhalo, Tomaye Gaan Sonabo, Sokatore Oi Kaandichhe, Megh Bolechhe Jabo Jabo, Bidhir Bandhon, Mone Ki Dwidha & Sunalo Sunalo Balika.
"Sunidhi is bound to surprise her fans as well as her detractors with her rendition of these Tagore classics. Her diction was immaculate and her range, supreme. It was a wonderful experience for me to hear her during the recording session," said Mahua Lahiri, Director, Asha Audio Company.
"She has simply mesmerised us. The arrangement has also been done interestingly with the right mix of modern day sound," said Lahiri.
Sunidhi said: "I was initially very nervous when Asha Audio approached me to be a part of this album. But at this juncture all I can say is that singing Rabindra Sangeet has been a gratifying as well as exhilarating experience for me."
"I hope I have been able to do justice to the songs and not just my fans but people who love Rabindra Sangeet will enjoy listening to this album. The melody of Rabindra Sangeet is simply unmatched," she said.
The same team of Soumyojit, Sourendra, Stefan Stoppok and Asha Audio which presented the music fraternity with 'Tagore & We' album also featuring Sraboni Sen few years ago, have joined hands once again to come up with this album.
Sunidhi Chauhan started her singing career as a child, giving her first live performance at the age of four.
She was the winner of the show Meri Aawaz Suno in 1996 and stepped into the world of playback singing in the same year with the super hit song "Ladki Deewaani Dekho, Ladka Deewaana" from Shastra.
After 'Ruki Ruki Si Hay Zindagi' from the movie Mast, there was no looking back for her.
Her songs 'Beedi Jalaile', 'Dhoom Macha De' and 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' had won her awards galore.
She has sung for all the top rung music directors in various languages.
The album will be available in stores from May.
