Anik Dutta's 'Aschorjo Prodip' first trailer launched
Kolkata, Oct 24 (IBNS): The cast and crew of the upcoming Bengali flick 'Aschorjo Prodip', by director Anik Dutta, launched the first theatrical trailer of the movie and announced the release date here on Wednesday.
The film is based on a novel by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay and is Dutta's second feature film as a director.
The movie features Saswata Chatterjee as an everyday salesman, Rajatava Dutta as Genie, Anindyo Chattopadhyay, Mumtaz Sorcar as Malamal, Sudarshan Chakravorty and Sreelekha Mitra as Jhumur.
The film has been produced by Brand Value Communication Ltd.
Three times national award winning director of photography, Aveek Mukhopadhyay is the man behind the camera.
The film has been edited by Arghya Kamal Mitra, also a national award recipient.
The music of the film has been scored by composer Raja Narayan Deb.
The story of the film revolves around Anilabho Gupta, a modern day Aladdin played by Saswata Chatterjee, who is an unassuming, quintessential middle class Bengali man with a monotonous job and an even more monotonous life.
However, the mundane life of the protagonist takes a dramatic turn when he finds a magic lamp and embarks on a once in a lifetime joyride, which forms the crux of the story.
Dutta said, "The devil in the film is a sort of corporate devil that can sale everything in the world. He is omnipresent throughout the film. The film that I make is not just a story but it is a whole package."
He added, "The star cast I had decided from the very beginning and I kept the same star cast in the film. Many celebrities had earlier approached me for making this film, but as I stuck with the already thought of star casts."
"I have taken the idea from a story by Sirsendu Mukhopadhay but have changed a lot. I have not changed the basic story but I have improved the whole package a lot. The script that I have modified is very much relevant in modern world." he said.
Saswata Chatterjee said, "This film is a large scale film. I agree that I experiment with roles and I am very happy doing that. I am very happy after working with Rajatava and Sreelekha."
"The film is very humorous. It essays a message that when the magic lamp comes every wish of mine is fulfilled," he said.
Sreelekha Mitra said, "Our lifestyle has changed a lot compared to what it was previously. This type of consumerism in very prominent in today's world. The character of my husband played by Saswata Chatterjee is a pressurized one because he not only has to fulfil his target in office but also has to satisfy his wife."
"After that a magic lamp comes to him and tries to fulfil his dreams. Everyone's acting in the film is commendable," she said.
The film is scheduled to release on Nov 22.
