Now ATM means 'Any Time Milk' for Pune
Pune, Apr 15 : Technology has come to play a bigger role in Maharashtra as locals in Pune city are getting dairy products from a unique milk vending machine called ATMs (Any Time Milk).
Ram Bhau Tuley, Chairman of the milk cooperative that has come up with this unique machine said the machine has capacity of keeping about 500 litres of milk.
"The advantage of this machine is that the customers need not stand in a queue and wait for their turn to get milk. The customers can operate this machine by using these buttons and can collect milk in few minutes. If milk is finished in the machine, the customers can contact the marketing manager using a code number, he will refill the machine and customers can again get milk easily," he added.
"We have surveyed the system at Anand operating such ATMs in Gujarat and once our experimental run is successful in Pune, we will be replicating these vending machines at different points in the city, making available a whole range of our milk products at the push of a button," he said.
On their part, the residents said the best advantage of milk ATM is for those who come back home from work in wee hours as the machine is providing various dairy products.
"This ATM' is beneficial for those who are working late in the night, specially IT employees as they can swap coins in the machine in wee hours also and can easily get milk from here," said Pankaj Pawar.
Conceived by a milk co-operative, Katraj Milk Dairy (KMD), which supplies over one lakh (100,000) litres of cow milk in Pune, the machine is named as 'Milk ATM' or 'Any Time Milk' machine which gives milk in exchange for money.
The system will cut down on transportation and distribution network and cost that can result in a possible cut in the milk price supplied through machines. (Agencies)
